VISION AMIDST HATRED;

"In April of 1994 Rwanda, an African country smaller than Vancouver Island, experienced one of the twenty-first centuries worst documented human massacres.
A civil war broke out between two tribes, the F.A.R (mostly Hutu) and the R.P.F (mostly Tutsi)  and the United Nations has estimated that at least one million people perished. "Vancouver Sun 3/1996.
Mr. Jean de Dieu Hakizimana founder and executive director of Rwanda Hope Society survived the hatred and replaced it with a vision of peace and reconciliation for all Rwandans people.
Jean is a victim of Rwandan genocide. He often asked himself why there was so much suffering and death around him. Why is Africa so torn by war, and tribal hatred, and religious persecution, and HIV infection? Even now in Canada. why must his people ... the people of Rwanda, and all African people suffer from vicious religious, political and tribal wars. Why must we be victimized by discrimination and hatred? Why must family turn against family? Why must tribe turn against tribe? Why must nation turn against nation?
Jean has decided to devote his entire life to the Rwanda Hope Society.
His hope is to help children and families to overcome their wounds from the war, and overcome the tribal hatred, which tore our nation apart and killed so many of us including: his whole family. Now is Director Neighborhood Care Services International, a based Ontario Corporation.

MISSION HISTORY;

Established in Kigali, Rwanda in December 1994, the organization’s objective is one of assisting the less fortunate and needy children who are unable to receive an education due to the tragic events that occurred in Rwanda's civil war. These events caused the deaths of almost one million people with another 2.5 million fleeing to neighboring countries. In the midst of such disturbance, a mission was established to restore hope and the right to life in the young generation. He began his first project by feeding and encouraging schooling to the many street children .He reached out through families providing assistance with home and health care, to affected children and families as a means of improving their standard of living. With the support of the World Health Organization, United Nation Development Program, USAID, hundreds of foster parents and well wishers, the mission offers development services that enhance the welfare and rehabilitation of vulnerable groups.
A few groups that our society helps are widows, poverty stricken families, orphans, street children, and those involved in prostitution. The mission started with 85 children, 60 of which were school aged.
Presently, the project cares for 780 families with 340 children. 60 of these children go to school.
Thanks you for your prayers and financial support.
